Tudor Heritage Black Bay Bronze
This diver’s watch from Tudor is easily the star of BaselWorld 2016, with its good looks and manufacture movement.
Some watches generate so much positive buzz at BaselWorld that one feels almost obliged to be cynical. Happily, the Tudor Heritage Black Bay Bronze deserves the good press and I was very happy to discover it in person at the fair. At 43mm it has a good presence on the wrist and the bronze aluminum alloy of the case draws the eye naturally. At the Tudor presentation, the firm said the case would develop a patina but one quite unlike the typical greenish hue normally associated with bronze. Instead, what you will get is a dark brown tone, which will then match the chocolate brown dial and bezel. The watch is no slouch in the movement department either, being equipped with Tudor’s manufacture movement, the automatic calibre MT5601. Enthusiasts will want to note that this movement sports a hairspring in silicon and has a 70 hour power reserve. Befitting its status as a diving watch, it sports a unidirectional bezel and is water resistant to 200 meters.
