Halkin Hotel in London has tapped triple-Michelin-starred father-daughter team Juan Mari and Elena Arzak of Spain to help relaunch the establishment’s restaurant.
Halkin Hotel will be replacing its existing Thai restaurant, Nahm, with a Spanish dining room to be christened Ametsa with Arzak Instruction, helmed by the Arzaks.
The London restaurant, slated to open in February 2013, will be the first UK outpost for the Arzaks, whose eponymously named restaurant is currently listed as the eighth best restaurant in the world, according to Restaurant magazine.
The elder Arzak, Juan Mari, was likewise given the Lifetime Achievement Award 2011 while Elena was named Best Female Chef this year by the same publication.
Like their San Sebastian restaurant, the London eatery will be based on Basque cuisine with a vanguard twist (Ametsa means ‘dream’ in Basque).
