Ahead of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, on August 15, Bonhams will hold an exceptional auction at the Quail Lodge in Carmel, California, including the sale of 10 extremely rare Ferrari sports cars.

The total estimated value of the automobiles in this “Maranello Rosso Collection” is over $33 million.

The most exceptional vehicle going under the hammer at the sale is a 1953 Ferrari 250 Mille Miglia Berlinetta appraised at between $9 and 12 million.

Presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1953, the model was piloted by Phil Hill, among others, and provided the inspiration for a range of models (250 Tour de France, 250 GT Short-Wheelbase, 250 GTO).

The Maranello Rosso Collection consists of a number of other vintage race cars, including the 1962 250 GTO Berlinetta piloted by Jo Schlesser, the Dino 166/246T driven in both F2 and Tasman Championships (by Chris Amon), a 1978 F1 312 T3 (driven by Carlos Reutemann and Gilles Villeneuve), and a 512 BB that competed in the Le Mans 24 Hours race in the early 1980s.

Lovers of fine cars will also be able to bid on the rare 365 GTB and 365 GTC or on a Dino 206 GT.

All of the automobiles are to be sold without reserve. This collection is only a small part of the sale organized by Bonhams, which will include the auction of over 300 lots over two days (August 14 and 15).
