Richard Mille and Pharrell Williams’ Out of This World RM 52-05 Timepiece
In teaming up with the Swiss luxury watchmaking brand, Pharrell was given the opportunity to manifest his deep sense of spirituality, love for space and fascination with the cosmos, creating the RM 52-05 Manual Winding Tourbillon Pharrell Williams watch.
Through engraving, enameling and painting ā the RM 52-05 is more than a timepiece, itās a masterful art piece incorporating grade 5 titanium, white diamonds, black sapphires, 5N gold and grand-fue-enameling. Each element of the watch is meticulously detailed, from the coruscating blue aventurine glass with triangular and hexagonal copper crystals which represent the confines of the universe in a starry night sky to the astronautās space helmet which takes 15 dedicated hours to decorate.
Featuring a caseback with a baseplate and bridge crafted from the same materials used in the aerospace and aeronautics industry, itās Grade 5 titanium is a combination of 90% titanium, 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium.
Powered by a CALIBRE RM52-05, Pharrellās watch features a quick rotating barrel, a tourbillon, 50 meters of water resistance, 19 jewels, 42 hoursā worth of power reserve, and 21,600 VPH beats. The RM 52-05ās eye-catching design is complemented by a minimalistic hour and minute display ā thus minimizing distraction and maximizing functionality, without compromising appearance.
The Richard Mille x Pharrell Williams RM 52-05 is a limited edition timepiece, with only 30 watches manufactured and distributed worldwide. The collaborative piece is thus worth an estimated USD$969,000.
