The final issue of WOW for 2021 celebrates all our favourite watches this year, and helps us usher in 2022. The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF is the perfect collection for this, and that is why the Tonda PF Micro-Rotor is on the cover of the Festive issue. The collection heralds a new dawn for the manufacture, and is already being talked-up by collectors and enthusiasts.
Elsewhere in issue #63, all the editors of WOW pulled together to select their favourite timepieces of 2021. A couple even chose watches that they bought, which underscores WOW’s traditional position of being a touchstone for people buying watches. The magazine turned 20 in 2021, and it continues to evolve and grow its mandate to inform, educate and inspire its audience. Drawing inspiration from its own archives, WOW presents a photo essay that is defined by the aesthetics of the founding team.

“We are honoured to share our 20th anniversary with some of the most significant milestones in contemporary watchmaking,” said WOW Singapore Editor-in-Chief Ashok Soman. “From the opening of the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva to the launch of the Ulysse Nardin Freak, 2001 was a watershed moment for watchmaking. To mark the confluence between the magazine and the watchmaking business, issue #63 revisits the Patek Philippe Museum, and positions Ulysse Nardin’s innovative escapement developments alongside other notable achievements in the pursuit of excellence in chronometry.

To close out the year, the magazine looks at persistent issues that will affect watchmaking, chiefly the undeniable growth in the number of people interested in collecting watches. Watch brands have always sought to grow the demand for their wares, and the editorial team thinks that this demand is here to stay. Of course, sports watches of all sorts — at every level — are hot tickets, but these are not the only tickers facing unprecedented demand. The world of watches is very wide indeed, and there is no need to hanker after what everyone else covets.
