On Newsstands Now: WOW Singapore Fall 2019

The Fall 2019 issue of WOW is out now, celebrating the culture of watchmaking and the power of haute horlogerie with our cover star, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon 5

Join us as we salute the culture of watchmaking in Singapore with WOW #54. We begin this issue as we close it ā€“ paying tribute to Patek Philippe for bringing the biggest watch show to Singapore since Tempus more than 10 years ago. The Watch Art Grand Exhibition unfolds from September 28 to October 13, and it is a canā€™t-miss affair. It is all free so there should be no excuses. We are looking forward to our own guided tours through the exhibition!

On Newsstands Now: WOW Singapore Fall 2019

ā€œThe Fall issue of WOW always gives us the opportunity to truly challenge our own watchmaking knowledge, and hopefully deliver better issues in future,ā€ said WOW Editor-in-Chief Ashok Soman. ā€œI look forward to shaping a brighter reality for WOW right along with our readers.ā€

The culture of watchmaking is not only about expensive and exquisite objects ā€“ Patek Philippe and any number of watchmaking brands are passionate about time. Thereā€™s both an art and a science to time, and the culture of watchmaking brings both together.

By tradition, the Fall issue has been the most technical of the four + one issues we publish every year. In issue #54, we take a look at astronomer and physicist Christiaan Huygensā€™ pioneering balance spring, while also taking the opportunity to examine constant force mechanisms more closely. While working on this piece, we discovered there was way too much material to cram into one issue so we will be looking at the regulating organs of timekeeping across as many issues as need be. Happily, this will match our new commitment to be more dynamic with our issues.

Ideally, it will be an issue much like this one: where the cover shapes much of whatā€™s inside. We could not have wished for a better watch than the Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon 5 to build this issue around. The Gyro 5 gave us the chance to discuss the constant force mechanism and the balance assembly in an organic way, for example.
