New SIHH 2019 Jaeger LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel
The new SIHH 2019 Master Ultra Thin Enamel is the distilled essence of the Grande Maison elevated to a new, higher level of sophistication.
In the realm of fine watchmaking, most brands are defined by a singular, emblematic icon. That said, there are a handful of storied marques, so rich in their heritage and history that it transcends that “limitation” and becomes known for more than one timepiece and design, among these brands stands Jaeger LeCoultre. Their second brand defining icon – The Master Ultra Thin series.
Unlike the definitive Jaeger LeCoultre icon, Reverso which often distracts with its high novelty flip-close dial protecting mechanism, the Master collection however, frees the Grande Maison to focus on the essential. For SIHH 2019, the Jaeger LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel exemplifies everything the Master collection was meant to be – pure and grandly elegant.
New SIHH 2019 Jaeger LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel
Highly recognisable for its subtle aesthetic codes, the Ultra Thin range of the Master collection continues to exhibit the exquisite roundness and dedication to details – this time, a sublime new hand-guilloché blue enamel dial serves as a mesmerising backdrop for a resplendent date indicator subdial with raised numerals upon grained finishing and a gorgeous polished moonphase. The Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel showcases close to 200 years of watchmaking know-how and artisanal prowess, defined here by the intense midnight blue enamel somehow transformed by an act of nigh miraculous hand-guilloché into a captivating dial which captures ambient lighting and accentuating its geometric relief to great effect. It would be errant to go without saying that performing guillochage work on the brittle translucent blue enamel layer requires an incomparable level of meticulous attention due to the ease of breakage from a simple misplaced stroke or inconsistent application of pressure.
Featuring a new moon phase setting, the SIHH 2019 Jaeger LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel sees the return of the Grande Maison’s celebrated astronomical moonphase complication with an updated design – when the moon is full, its perfectly round and mirror polished disc almost appears white resting on a stellar background. Framing the transcendent complication, is an engraved date subdial with sand graining and art deco style thin Arabic numerals requiring extreme concentration to execute flawlessly.
Issued in a limited series of 100 pieces, the new Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel proudly expresses the heritage of the Grande Maison with a purist novelty the the refinement of a manufacture that for over 100 years as served as a watchmaker of watchmakers.
Within the extremely thin 10.04 mm case of the SIHH 2019 Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel conceals the majestic self-winding manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 925 with a 70-hour power reserve with astronomical moon phase complication. The Master collection, inspired by the first ultra plate watch created in 1907, sees potent distillation of its essence in the new Master Ultra Thin Enamel bringing the Grande Maison to a new, higher level of sophistication.
