New Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date with Sunrayed and Grained dial

The new Limited Edition Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date with gradient deep turquoise to royal blue dial is undeniably beautiful diver’s watch with near universal appeal

For a long time, Jaeger-LeCoultre has been one of the rarified brands with two brand icons – the Reverso and the Master Ultra-Thin series, following the successful launch of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris collection at SIHH 2018, the Grande Maison is creating a series of limited edition Polaris models in 800 piece production runs, each with its own update vintage design motifs, combining the Manufacture’s watchmaking expertise with exquisite aesthetic updates.

Drawing inspiration from the original 1970s Polaris II, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date is a modern watch with classic appeal thanks to its gorgeous hand-lacquered, blue double-gradient dial with sunrayed, grained and opaline finish.

The central disc and main dial of the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date incorporates a shimmering, gradient effect often found in smoked or fume dials in classic dress watches – the sunrayed central disc goes from deep turquoise to a brilliant shade of royal blue. The eyeline then follows the baton-style hands towards the grained periphery bearing the elongated Arabic numerals, and trapezoidal hour markers.

Retaining the signature look of the Polaris collection, the limited edition Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date enjoys vintage appeal thanks to its vanilla-tinted Super-LumiNova for maximum low-light visibility while telegraphing the faux-vintage hat-tip to the original Polaris watches of the 1960s and 70s.

Ensconced with a 42mm stainless steel case, an automatic in-house Calibre 899A/1 with 38 hours power reserve, keeps the seconds, minutes, hours, and date (displayed through a dedicated window at the three o’clock position), while a secured closed caseback with special SCUBA diving insignia, the Jaeger-LeCoultre crest, conveys visual evidence that even with such an attractive face, the new limited edition Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date is still very much your robust diver’s watch rated to 200 metres water resistance.Incorporating brushed and hand-polished surfaces, the case is easily identified with its two prominent crowns—one to adjust the time, the other to control the aforementioned rotating bezel.

“1000 Hours Control” inscribed on the caseback references the fact that the fully assembled watch has undergone 1,000 hours of testing before leaving the Manufacture in the VallĂ©e de Joux, Switzerland.

The limited edition Polaris Date is accessorised with a blue rubber Clous de Paris strap, unique to the model, is color-matched to the inner bezel, which, like the original Memovox Polaris and Polaris II, rotates for added functionality.
