The latest addition to Girard-Perregaux’s Sea Hawk collection is its boldest and brightest yet, while maintaining the characteristics that have made this line so popular since its 2012 update.

Girard Perregaux Sea Hawk 2

Contrast is obviously the name of the game here, as one immediately picks out the watch’s cobalt blue and coral orange colour scheme. This visual theme extends to the dial and its details, with sharp lines and three-dimensional styling dominating the scene. The dial surface has a raised ‘honeycomb’ pattern, with the logo, indices and power reserve indicator all in 3D to match it. On the other hand, the date wheel appears to be sunken quite a fair bit from its aperture opening, giving the dial a perception of depth instead. Finally, these features are all surrounded by a sloping flange which rims the dial and transitions up and outwards to the sapphire crystal. Externally, the angular steel and rubber case stays true to the design motif, and is topped with a bezel whose fluting pattern consists of nearly perpendicular grooves – clearly rendering the theme tactile as well as visual.

Girard Perregaux Sea Hawk 1

Under the hood, this version of the Sea Hawk is driven by Girard-Perregaux’s own self-winding GP03300 movement, which comes with a 46-hour power reserve. With its bold styling and a case diameter and thickness of 44mm and 17.1mm respectively, the watch is evidently for someone looking to make a statement. It comes with either a blue rubber strap (S$16,000) or a stainless steel bracelet (S$17,600), with our vote going to the former for extending the blue/orange colour scheme further.
