Prada and Adidas Take Partnership To A New Level
The Forum collection is a genius combination of Prada and Adidas, literally.
The upcoming Prada and Adidas Forum collaboration is another step of blending the worlds of luxury and streetwear. The two have come together to release the most wearable and creative pair thus far, the Adidas Forum sneakers, which will be available in all-white or all-black colourways.
The co-branded Forum collaboration takes elements from each brand and blends them together for an extremely creative and wearable collection. For the new collection, the Adidas Three Stripes is cleverly applied to some of Prada’s most famous silhouettes, while the Italian fashion house’s signature Re-Nylon is heavily referenced in every piece, from the bags and accessories to the Forum sneakers.
The Forum sneakers are the third such Adidas pair to get a Prada makeover. It follows the Adidas Superstars in 2020 and the Luna Rossa ’21 Performance in 2021. Sitting on the tongue of this luxury sneakers is a detachable pouch, made from Re-Nylon, which proudly sports Prada’s triangular logo on the front and another branded badge inside and is finished with a chrome zipper that runs around the bag. The “Prada Milano” branding graces the very top of the tongue in capital letters, and inside the shoe — two collaborators’ monikers are found side by side.
“From the very beginning of our partnership together, the Forum has always been a part of our conversations,” explains Stefano Pierre Beruschi, head of design for Adidas collaborations in a statement.
“Not only is it one of Adidas’s most iconic silhouettes, but we also jointly agreed it would be the perfect archetype to express as a centrepiece for our third collaborative project.”
The Re-Nylon material is being pushed as the highlight of this collaboration. As mentioned earlier it is featured in every piece, which is a re-engineered version of Prada’s signature nylon that has been used in the brand’s products for years. Prada launched Re-Nylon in 2019, which uses recycled and purified plastic trash recovered from oceans to make the material. In 2021, Prada succeeded in its aim to shift its entire production from virgin nylon to Re-Nylon.
Rapper A$AP Rocky teased the Prada and Adidas Forum sneakers way back in September. In a now-deleted post, he shared a few photos showing off the sneakers in white. A month later, a “Triple Black” colourway had surfaced.
Adidas and Prada will release the Forum collection on 13 January via Prada boutiques and online at prada.com and adidas.com/prada.
In recent fashion news, Giorgio Armani has cancelled its men’s fall 2022 runway shows that were scheduled to happen during Milan Men’s Fashion Week this month, due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases recently. The fashion house has also pulled out from the Paris Haute Couture week happening this month as well.
