The New York-based label Ports 1961, designed by Fiona Cibani, will introduce its first men’s wear collection with a runway show in Milan in January 2011.

The collection will be carried at high-end department stores, though it is also planning to launch men’s-only standalone boutiques in New York, Paris, and Milan.

“I felt like it was the right time for men’s wear and our clients were asking for it,” Cibani told Women’s Wear Daily.

“We really believe in men’s, and think it’s necessary to be in this market. We want it to be the same caliber and have the same sophistication as our women’s collection.”

The men’s collection will feature 51 comprehensive runway looks, comprising a full range of accessories.

Ports 1961 FallWinter 2010 Campaign

Expect to see modern basics like structured suits, a double-face camel-hair topcoat or lightweight Mackintosh raincoat with zippered sleeve cuffs.

Price points will vary from $1,600 (1,210 euros) for a suit to $2,000 (1,513 euros) for a coat, and between $450 (340 euros) to $1,000 (756 euros) for knitwear.
