From menswear to haute couture, the fashion world is keeping busy with month after month of catwalk shows that leave us wanting more. Since June 2, Paris has been playing host to some of the biggest names in the industry as they unveiled their designs for Fall/Winter 2017 at Haute Couture Fashion Week.

On the first day, all eyes were on the runways and the front rows as the designers showed off their expert craftsmanship and expertise. From Proenza Schouler to Guo Pei the list of designers goes on but we take a look at the highlights and fawn over the immaculate creations, each one painstakingly hand-stitched to perfection. An example of how creativity met with high-fashion the use of feathers, lace and more showed just how each house was inspired for the upcoming season.

Guo Pei, who is famous for creating Rihanna’s embroidered couture gown at the MET Gala in 2015, gave us a show to remember with her fourth collection. While she has been known for using her designs to speak her mind, she focused on the “clothing itself” for the fall/winter 2018 collection. Metallic gowns and body-hugging silhouettes dominated the lineup, all paired perfectly with Chopard’s High Jewellery collection — bringing us designs that would have given Cinderella a run for her money.

Over at Chanel, who hosted their guests at Grand Palais complete with a replica of the Eiffel Tower, the brand showed us exactly why Karl Lagerfeld is called “Kaiser”. Featuring the classic tweed, the winter coats and suits were embellished with crystals while shoulders were rounded and the brimmed hats that were somewhere between a boater and a bowler. The colour scheme was that of black, purple and dark blue but was anything but dull.

Then there was Ralph & Russo who presented their stunning designs that left us spellbound. With a little help from Bollywood actress and ardent fan of the brand, Sonam Kapoor, the designer duo sent out an ensemble that would be perfect for the bride who wants all eyes on her. The white embellished peplum gown that had a beautiful train and sheer veil stole the show — and we can see why. Complete with diamonds accessories and toned down makeup, the star looked every inch of a diva as she strutted down the ramp.
