Fashion Forward Footballers: Paris Saint-Germain x Dior
Dior has become football club Paris Saint-Germain’s official tailor, giving them a wardrobe of both casual and formal looks.
Worlds collide as fashion and football come together for Dior and football club Paris Saint-Germain to create looks for the star-studded team for the next two seasons. The suits were designed by Dior men’s artistic director, Kim Jones.
The wardrobe worn by the team will include both a casual and formal look and comes in black and navy hues.
The casual looks include a Harrington jacket, knitted sweater, polo shirt, and trousers. Each piece comes with an embroidered “Paris Saint-Germain” patch and the “CD Icon” initials. Footwear includes the Dior Explorer derbies with the Dior Oblique motif, and insoles embossed with the respective player’s jersey number.
Formal wear features a cashmere coat, jacket, shirt, and pants along with a pair of Dior Timeless cap-toe derbies, also with the embossed interiors.
And lastly, for accessories, each player gets Dior’s signature Saddle bag in black-grained calfskin, a cashmere scarf, a jacquard tie with the Paris Saint-Germain logo, and a reversible black-and-navy blue belt.
Paris Saint-Germain is one of the top football clubs worldwide, with 27 trophies in 10 years — 43 in total since its creation in 1970. It has attracted superstar players such as Ronaldinho, David Beckham, and more recently, Neymar Jr and Lionel Messi.
Dior isn’t the only luxury brand collaborating with a football club, other brands such as Tag Heuer and Hublot have collaborated with Manchester United to release limited edition watches with the club’s crest and colours.
Real Madrid FC and Yohji Yamamoto have also partnered up in 2014 to design the club’s third kit for the 2014/15 season.
