Defy Age: Shiseido Bio-Performance LiftDynamic

Your skin has its own ways of staying firm and youthful. But sometimes, it needs a little help getting a lift.

If you are anything like me, you would fancy your anti-ageing skincare – especially the firming and lifting ones – to come in richer, thicker textures. Why? Because most times, such skincare products are meant to be applied in an upwards-lifting motion, all the better to help sagging skin defy gravity.

Anything that is too light or liquid-y – read: quickly absorbed into skin before you can even practise any massaging strokes – defeats the purpose of using a firming product.

Thank goodness the new Shiseido Bio-Performance LiftDynamic Cream is nothing like that. Instead, expect a dense cream that feels more like a balm or even a paste, and cocoons your face and neck in a luxurious coat of hydration and nourishment. And while the folks at Shiseido say that the cream is to be used for both day and night, I think it works better as a night cream, especially if you are sleeping in an air-conditioned room. Or pack it with you when you are travelling to a harsh, wintry climate.

After a week’s use, my skin felt firmer and smoother, and looked more plumped up. I’m guessing this is due to the use of the TruStructive Technology, which incorporates a rosemary phyto-essence and a bio-renewal complex. The technology is said to support skin’s natural hydrating and restorative capabilities, as well as target the very first signs of wrinkles and sagging. Plus, another ingredient known as super-hyaluronic acid plus helps to keep skin well-moisturised for 24 hours.

Also newly launched is the Shiseido Bio-Performance LiftDynamic Eye Treatment, which boasts the same lifting and firming benefits of the face cream but also treats dark eye circles. Once again, the eye treatment is not a light gel or emulsion but a thicker cream. A little goes a long way and the hygienic pump bottle is a plus point.
