Hosting the Olympics is no easy monetary feat. According to the Council on Foreign Relations, a growing number of economists argue that the benefits of hosting the games are “at best exaggerated and at worst nonexistent, leaving many host countries with large debts and maintenance liabilities”. However, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), has claimed that the hosting nation will receive “a significant contribution in cash, in services and in value-in-kind” to the success of each edition of the Olympic Games and Youth Olympic Games.

Hosting the games has the potential to stimulate the regional and national economy, generating revenues that help to compensate for public investments. Hosting one of the world’s most-viewed sporting events can increase the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) that is only proven by the growing demand for hotel accommodations and luxury properties Paris has faced since 2023 in line with the Olympic Games. Much like the growth of the travel industry, the luxury hospitality and food and beverage industries must adapt to accommodate the growing demand the games will bring to the city.

M Social Paris

With a Haussmannian façade trimmed with large windows and balconies, the M Social Paris adopts the compounds of the former Millennium Hotel Paris. In 2021, its premises were renovated to make way for the Millennium Hotel & Resorts Group’s first M Social brand in Europe. Franck Cousin — founder of StudioCaid — rooted the hotel in the same DNA as its predecessor and created a new identity by retaining features instead of eradicating them. Its airy double-height lobby sweeps with a retrofitted glass dome and chandeliers made in Gustave Eiffel’s workshop.

Rooms at the M Social Paris Hotel are generously sized by Paris’ standards, starting at 17-19 square meters with the Aclove rooms that move up to the 45-55 square meters La Grande Sweetie suites. Rooms are quintessentially contemporary with pastel-coloured walls, tempered by eclectic textiles and silky velvets, while bedside marbles are retrofitted with USB ports. One can imagine waking up in a room with tall ceilings and French windows. The rooms are where one will find a soothing dose of authentic Haussmannian elements that still exist amongst its modern finishings.

Riccardio Giraudi’s Beefbar

Monaco-born restaurateur Riccardio Giraudi opened his third Beefbar in Paris in 2018 with interiors that find harmony between 19th-century architecture and modern industrial-style design. Following two other debuts in Dubai and Mykonos, this latest iteration sets itself in Paris within the restored Lamgham Hotel from 1898. The strong colours and modern furnishings were a befitting contemporary spin to revive a century-old monument.

Art Nouveau elements such as the signature pastel green shades, patterned carpeting and intricate frescos were carefully restored, while Art Deco marble, etched staff walls, faceted mirrors, lacquered walnut and brass fittings were preserved. The original features are juxtaposed with industrial-style minimalist woodwork and ceiling paneling. With the Eiffel Tower within eyeshot, Giraudi makes yet another bold statement with this Paris edition.

Le Clarence Restaurant at The Hotel Dillon 

Located at 31 avenue Franklin D Roosevelt, in the 8th arrondissement (also referred to as the heart of Paris’ Golden Triangle) — an area that is expecting the highly anticipated reopening of the Grand Palais, Paris’ historic exhibition and event hall. This comes in line with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games which will use the space to host the fencing and taekwondo events. Le Clarence is set within an 1884 mansion and in 2015, both the hotel and restaurant were re-opened after a restoration by skilled craftsmen, under the supervision of HRH Prince Robert of Luxembourg. The space exudes all the luxury one would imagine from royalty — period paintings, wood paneling, tapestries, and rich, jewel-hued furnishings. As the restaurant explains “…each dining room has its own character and invites guests to immerse themselves in its ambiance: from the bookcase with its delicate wood paneling in the Pontac room, to the hushed atmosphere in the Lestonnac room, or the celestial mood in the Talleyrand room, with its plunging view onto the kitchens”.

Le Clarence features private dining and meeting rooms, a sumptuous salon, and an elegant bar reserved for restaurant guests. Head chef Christophe Pelé earned Le Clarence two Michelin stars just a year after its opening, and the restaurant exemplifies just why stunningly prepared French cuisine is internationally renowned.

Saint James Paris

Conceived in 2023, Villa Saint James lies in the heart of Paris’ esteemed 16th Arrondissement.
