Catering to the Client
Experts agree: the first but very important stage of the design process for a luxury home interior is about listening to the client and the brief and working within the parameters. Mutual trust between clients and designers can lead to a collaborative and fruitful process as the design approach emerges and evolves over time.

The Los Angeles-based interior designer Adam Hunter, for example, attributes his award-winning projects to trusting the process and working side by side with a client to deliver a genuinely tailored design. “Take the time to put the right team together and then – trust them,” advises Hunter. “Successful interior design projects have less to do with a perfect aesthetic and more to do with the clients aligning with their team. The process takes patience, and it can be trying at times.”

Adam Hunter is a prominent figure in the global interior design community and is known for creating dynamic, custom interiors that draw inspiration from his decade-long career as a Broadway star. After years of playing prominent roles under the spotlight, Hunter decided to follow his passion for creating spectacular interiors around the globe that convey drama and restraint. Hunter quickly established himself as the preferred designer for Hollywood’s elite, including Travis Barker, Christina Hendricks, Neil Patrick Harris, and more after creating the renowned Kate Somerville spa on Melrose Place. Hunter was included on House Beautiful’s prestigious Next Wave list in 2014, and he frequently makes the Luxe Interior + Design Gold List.

Since then, he has appeared in numerous publications, including Architectural Digest, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, InStyle, Elle Decor, and Vogue. Architectural Digest published an article about his home in 2017. The Rug Company’s Lab collection, a bespoke collection with Bill Amberg in London, and a brand-new wallpaper collaboration with Fromental that will debut this autumn are just a few of Hunter’s collections and collaborations. He maintains offices in New York City, Dallas, and Los Angeles.

A Sun-Kissed Home

“Los Angeles Kissed by Paris” best describes this expansive abode in the City of Angels. This three-level, 11,000-square-foot house in the Brentwood Park neighbourhood is connected by a circular stairwell. Bronze doors on the lower floor lead to a spa with a plunge pool that is enclosed in glass. A home theatre is located off a lounge with leather-panelled walls on the spa’s right side. Hunter adapted classic French mouldings for the lacquer in the dining room, while French panelling served as the model for the panelling in the main living room’s back wall. A hand-beaded wallpaper in the main bedroom reflects the evening light like an Oscar gown.
