May 04, 2023 | By Joe Lim

We had a sneak peek into the world of interiors from top fashion labels during Milan Design Week which was held in conjunction with Salone del Mobile 2023 — the world’s largest furniture fair in Milan, Italy. Here are some enticing furniture and decor creations from premium runway brands.

Armani Casa

Armani Casa’s latest collection has arrived, and it is nothing short of exquisite. The 2023 Salone del Mobile showcased a range of new furniture creations that exude luxury and sophistication.

The collection draws inspiration from nature and the organic forms found in the natural world. The intricate patterns and textures of the pieces are reminiscent of the movement of water, the bark of trees, and the veins of leaves. This fusion of nature and design creates a unique and harmonious balance that is quintessentially Armani.

One standout piece from the collection is the Orizzonte sofa. The soft curves and plush upholstery make it a cosy addition to any living space. The sofa’s modular design allows for customisation to fit any room, making it both functional and stylish. The Orizzonte is available in a range of warm, earthy tones, evoking a sense of calm.

Another notable object from the collection is the Natura bed. The bed’s headboard is a work of art in itself, featuring intricate wood carvings that resemble the branches of a tree. The bed’s simple, clean lines and neutral colour palette make it a striking centrepiece for any bedroom.

Armani Casa’s 2023 collection is a masterful display of design and craftsmanship. Each piece is thoughtfully created to complement and enhance any living space. The dedicated craftsmen are also a true testament to the brand’s commitment to quality and style.

Loewe

Loewe, the Spanish luxury fashion brand known for their exquisite leather goods and accessories, has now unveiled their latest collection of chairs for Salone 2023. Based on an everyday object — the chair — these stunning new designs are created by distinct artists that showcase the brand’s commitment to expert craftsmanship and their strokes of creativity.

The latest collection from Loewe is all about celebrating the art of craft, and this year’s focus is on chairs. Aptly titled Loewe Chairs, the project showcases the transformative power of manual labour and human invention on an everyday object. The exhibition was hosted at the elegant Palazzo Isimbardi from 17 to 23 April 2023.

What’s particularly striking about this collection is the use of various weaving techniques in different materials, some of which are unexpected. While leather and raffia are close to the Loewe alphabet, the use of thermal blanket foil is completely unexpected. Shearling and felt are also incorporated, giving the chairs a soft and tactile texture.

Colour is another exciting element of this collection. It highlights the interplay of materials and maximises the decorative reinvention of each chair. The chairs are the result of a creative dialogue between the artisans, their preferred medium, and the object itself. What was once considered humble stick chairs are now elevated into one-of-a-kind masterpieces, showcasing the unbridled creativity of the artisans.

Thirty stick chairs were embellished, with 22 being original antique pieces and the remaining eight crafted anew by a British atelier specialising in stick chairs. The term “stick chair” refers to the apparent simplicity of construction and appearance of these pieces of domestic furniture, which were once considered peasant items and not important enough to document. However, these sticks provide an ideal base for inventive weaving and applications.

The collection is completed with eight Lloyd Loom chairs created by Belgian company Vincent Sheppard. These chairs are made of natural fibres and leather, and the Lloyd Loom technique is used to weave them. This innovative material, initially intended for baby carriages during World War I, is perfect for outdoor use, making it much more durable than rattan. The chairs feature a mushroom motif and expand the possibilities of basketry within the Loewe language.

Overall, Loewe Chairs is an impressive display of the transformative power of manual labour and human invention on everyday objects, showcasing the brand’s commitment to craft and innovation.

Versace Home

Versace Home has once again proved its prowess in the world of luxury furniture with its latest collection of chairs showcased at Salone del Mobile 2023. The Italian fashion house has added a touch of glamour to its signature home collection.

The new collection features chairs of varying sizes, shapes, and designs, each reflecting the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and exquisite detailing. The Medusa Throne Chair, with its intricate gold detailing and plush velvet upholstery, is a standout piece that epitomises the Versace Home aesthetic. The design is a nod to the brand’s Greek mythology roots, with the iconic Medusa head emblem taking centre stage on the backrest.

Another notable piece is the Baroque-inspired armchair, which exudes regal sophistication with its elaborate carvings and rich burgundy velvet. The chair is a testament to Versace’s ability to seamlessly blend tradition with modernity.

The collection also includes the futuristic-looking Lounge Chair, which boasts a sleek metal frame and geometric shape, making it a perfect addition to any contemporary living space. The chair’s distinctive design and bold colour choices give it a striking presence, while its comfortable cushions complement the look.

Versace Home has maintained its creativity with this new collection, showcasing the brand’s ability to create furniture pieces that are both luxurious and functional, while offering distinct designs that bear the brand’s signature aesthetic.

Loro Piana

Loro Piana, the luxury Italian brand renowned for its cashmere, has unveiled its latest collection of home objects that exude elegance and sophistication. The Apacheta chair, designed by Cristian Mohaded, is a standout piece in the 2023 collection.

Mohaded, an Argentinian designer, has brought his unique style to the chair, creating a stunning combination of materials that is both eye-catching and comfortable. The chair is inspired by the Andes Mountains, with its backrest and armrests reminiscent of the peaks and valleys of the South American range. The chair is available in a range of colours, including earthy tones such as ochre and terracotta, as well as more neutral hues like ivory and taupe.

The chair’s upholstery is made from Loro Piana’s exclusive cashmere fabric, ensuring maximum comfort and luxury. The chair’s base is crafted from solid wood, adding a natural touch to the design.

In addition to the Apacheta chair, Loro Piana’s 2023 collection features other stunning designs, such as the sleek and minimalistic Rete chair. Its backrest is made from a unique fabric that allows the chair to mould itself to the shape of the person sitting in it, providing unparalleled comfort.

Each chair in the collection is a masterpiece in its own right, combining exquisite craftsmanship and the finest materials. Loro Piana’s 2023 collection of home objects is a testament to the brand’s commitment to creating exceptional pieces one will cherish for many years to come.
