The Arches

One iconic 50-year-old former government office building, with its unique architecture and interior finishes, plus one high-profile preservation project. The result? Hong Kong’s newest luxury hotel, The Murray, which was designed by famed British studio Foster + Partners with plenty of elegant touches of white, black and gold. The landmark building is almost bathing in natural light – it was built with recessed square windows, and its energy efficient and eco-conscious layout is still being celebrated today.

The 25-storey Hotel is Home to 336 Contemporary-style Guestrooms and Suites

Choose from Explorer, Signature, Cotton Tree, Park, Penthouse, and The Murray suites, some of which offer views of the surrounding green oasis that is the Hong Kong Park. The hotel’s event space, The Arches, is already a hot Instagram spot for its high ceilings, abundance of natural light, and its repurposed car-ramp-structure. The hotel is also located next to The Peak tram station, and is a stroll away from Queen’s Road Central.

There are five restaurants housed in The Murray, including Guo Fu Lou, one of Hong Kong’s most iconic Chinese establishments serving Cantonese cuisine. Popinjays, the most recently opened of the five dining spots, is found on the hotel’s top floor. It serves modern European dishes, aviary-inspired cocktails, as well as a view of Hong Kong’s skyline. Elsewhere, you’ll find the Garden Lounge (perfect for high-tea indulgences), Murray Lane for small plates, beers and wines, as well as The Tai Pan for international and Pan-Asian classics.
