InterContinental-owned boutique chain Hotel Indigo has opened its first property in continental Europe.
The Hotel Indigo Berlin opened its doors February 3, marking the brand’s first entry into Europe outside of the United Kingdom.
Designed with Hotel Indigo’s trademark ’boutique’ feel, the property contains 81 rooms, which are finished in light wood and white but have been individualized with color to give them the feel of an ‘artist’s studio’.
All rooms feature iPod docking stations and Tassimo coffee machines, while on the ground floor the hotel features Wohlfahrt’s Restaurant.
The restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine to guests and passersby from the packed Boulevard Kufuerstendamm, one of Berlin’s prime shopping areas.
This trendy area is becoming increasingly popular with tourists, in line with Berlin’s rising popularity as a European destination.
Later this year, Waldorf Astoria will open its first Berlin property on the same street as Hotel Indigo, offering 232 guest rooms with panoramic views of Berlin’s skyline.
The hotel is set to feature the only Guerlain Spa in Germany, along with Les Solistes, a French restaurant by celebrity chef Pierre Gagnaire.
