If an arcade or games room at the hotel isn’t enough to keep your teens out of trouble when on vacation, how about an entire teen nightclub?
That’s what teens at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort in the Bahamas can now enjoy since the opening of the $11 million CRUSH teen nightclub on January 1.
Designed to keep even the most demanding teens amused, the club combines elements of adult nightspots — such as video walls, a performance stage, VIP areas and even doormen — with teen-friendly amenities such as technology areas.
The club is “inspired by the lavish Las Vegas nightclub experience” and hired interior designer Jeffrey Beers to deck out the interior with items such as smoked mirror panels, a backlit bar and marble floors with color changing LED lights.
Teens aren’t allowed to drink at the bar, but it does serve a selection of “mocktails” such as a ‘Mango Margarita’ or ‘Almond Joy’ and the party runs through until 1AM.
Instead of the traditional mix of smokers and drunken brawls found outside adult clubs, visitors to CRUSH can step outside to cheer on their friends in the Gaming Stadium, which is equipped with gaming consoles and large televisions to allow spectators to enjoy the action inside the virtual arena.
With Atlantis’ boss George Markanotis saying that “teen and tween audiences are becoming increasingly powerful when determining where families will go on their holiday,” it’s no surprise that brands are stepping up their efforts to entice them.
Even the Disney Dream, a 128,000 ton cruise ship which recently sailed into Port Canaveral ahead of its maiden voyage later this month, has managed to find space for an area to entice the young adults away from the television.
The ship’s new ‘Vibe’ area is an indoor-outdoor lounge and nightclub with disco floor, decks for aspiring DJs to mix their own tracks and a stage area used for karaoke shows and talent competitions.
