Fraser has revealed that sales of pre-owned and new-build yachts 24m and above were up 132 per cent on the 12-year average (source: Fraser Market Intelligence) as more people than ever seized the opportunity to experience the benefits of yacht ownership.

In an exclusive Column for Yacht Style, Raphael Sauleau, CEO of Fraser, said: “As we start 2022, we’re buoyed by last year’s activity, which surpassed all expectations industry-wide.”

Fraser brokers closed over 100 sales worldwide in 2021, with over 40 per cent of buyers coming to the sector for the first time.

Demand for charter was also strong, with a 58 per cent increase in the number of days booked compared to 2019, pre-Covid, while Costa Rica has been added to potential destinations for superyachts owners.

“After years of lobbying with the Costa Rica Marina Association and the country’s government, we are proud to see this stunning natural location now open for the first time to owners and charterers worldwide,” Sauleau said.

“And with markets continuing to rally, eco-technology more to the fore, and bookings already ahead of previous years, the demand for all that yachts and yachting have to offer looks set to continue.”
