Fairlineā€™s F//Line 33’s original model premiered at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2019 proved to be both popular and very fast ā€” hitting 48 knots with the most powerful engine options. Its regional dealer Simpson Marine imported the first unit to Asia last year.

Based on consumer responses, Fairline had decided early last year that the boat could be slightly improved and started developing a new model, which eventually premiered at this yearā€™s Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

ā€œAll changes were 100 per cent driven by customer feedback,ā€ explains Miles Moorhouse, Fairlineā€™s Head of Marketing. ā€œWith all boats you are constantly tweaking the design and listening to your customers. Our ability to react to market demand is critical and a hand-made project like this means you can make changes.ā€

A few changes have been made, but all modifications have made significant changes in helping the boat reach new heights. The original concept of the boat has not changed.

Designed by Italian designer, Alberto Mancini and was inspired by classic car designs in the ’60s. The boat measures 33-feet and is made of fibreglass. The F//Line 33 is a day boat that offers more than a mundane quick cruise.

The F//Line 33 offers generous onboard spaces and stands out among the brandā€™s other models. ā€œIt looks very different from a traditional Fairline,ā€ Moorhouse notes. ā€œThis is very much a weekender boat.ā€

The new F//Line 33 model is based on the same hull but with variations to the main deck. The new model has retained some original features such as a forward sunbed and aft dining area, but with a slightly modified design to better serve guests.

The new model optimises its outdoor experience. This has been realised in the form of details such as a new portside wet bar with options to add a fridge, electric griddle and icemaker to enhance the entertainment space which can accommodate up to six guests.

Starboard seating has been modified to a C-shaped sofa to starboard around a teak-topped table, with the aft backrest doubling up as a headrest for an additional two-person sunbed.

Having just one walkway to the port creates more socialising areas. Moving to an open-transom layout also offers easier access to the water for guests who wish to spend more time outside.

The most obvious and popular modification is the inclusion of a hardtop option, with Fairline declaring that it has been chosen on every new order.

Below deck, interiors are surprisingly spacious given the compact size. The layout includes a convertible forward dinette, day head and midships cabin.

The dinette features a high-low table and an ultra-modern mirror TV also making the lower deck comfortable and cosy. The low cabin offers a serene sleeping space with a double bed.

The new interior also has increased storage space and a host of new options such as a cooking hob and sink, giving you more options of dining inside or outside.

Fairline initially created the F//Line project to attract a new audience, which is reflected in the modelā€™s energetic performance. Moorhouse describes the desired target audience as slightly younger than “big boat” buyers, or even first time buyers. For some, the F//Line 33 is their gateway to the luxury boating experience. The driving experience is key to the specific consumer market.

While it is able to reach impressive speeds depending on engine choice, the F//Line 33 ā€œhas built a reputation as a good sea boat that lands softlyā€ and is decidedly ā€œeasy to handle,ā€ according to Moorhouse. The F//Line 33 has a user-friendly set-up allowing it to be a great boat for first-timers.

In the new version, the helm width had been increased and has room for two 12-inch Garmin navigation screens, instead of one.

The F//Line 33 is also customisable. Fairlineā€™s online configurator allows prospective clients to see how theyā€™d like their boat to look, such as with or without a hardtop, inboard or outboard engines, and the best colours for the hull, upholstery and interior.

Moorhouse says the online configurator is essential to the purchasing process of the new F//Line 33. ā€œPeopleā€™s knowledge of the product is great by the time they visit. It works well for clients from around the world, who can use the configurator to build their ideal 33. Itā€™s a powerful tool.ā€

Ahead of this, Moorhouse suggests that there is more that could be done with the F//Line and that there could be more to come from the new range.

If you’re looking for something bigger, this unique asymmetrical catamaran dubbed the “Asean Lady”, measures 88-metres long and is listed for ā‚¬30 million by its owner, Vincent Tan, a Malaysian Chinese business tycoon. It was first built in 2004, and a year later it was awarded the ā€œMost Innovative Motor Yachtā€ by Showboats International.

Its asymmetrical shape has solved many issues typical of luxury yachts such as noise, space, and stability. A standout amenity of the yacht is its helideck, located aft, allowing guests to make a statement with their entry or exit.
