A new Italian design icon – Tecnomar Evo 120 Ice White Edition
Tecnomar Evo 120 Ice White Edition is a successful mariage of function and style, engineering efficiency and cutting edge design.
The Tecnomar Evo 120 Ice White Edition is an agile oceanic behemoth that brings a breath of fresh air into Asia with yachts already sold to Asian clients and a first delivery in August 2018. Promising debut and more to come for this 120-foot jewel with a grand launch event in Marina di Carrara early September before starting an Asian tour from October throughout 2019.
Tecnomar’s latest marvel is built from aluminium, and while the cost of the material has reduced somewhat, the resilience of this material is greater than ever and with new alloys having even greater strength and longevity we could expect our readers in a hundred years to celebrate the centenary of this yacht. Tecnomar prefers to use aluminium as they are a custom yacht builder and craft each vessel individually. The beautiful and complex hull form with intricate compound curves and niches could not easily be moulded in plastic anyway, without using multiple pieces and carrying a considerable weight penalty.
Gorgeous Exterior
The new yacht is a stealthy and sleek sculpture, while its performance promises to be very comfortable, even at speed. And it is very economical as the form is sculpted with naval architecture in mind. The yacht is available with a selection of power plants from MTU giving up to 2x 1939kw and a top speed of 26 knots which the yard considers the limit for comfortable refined cruising. The hull form and structure giving a much smoother ride than its composite counterparts while travelling. The exterior is simply outstanding from a distance but what catches the eye close up is the incredible attention to detail and the experience and knowledge behind every aspect of the design. The aft main deck does not have the typical large single sliding door into the main saloon. This is a huge problem in the high humidity of the tropics in summer causing instantaneous condensation though-out the interior when the big doors open and the hot humid air rushes in.
“We are sure this 120-foot jewel will be just the first of many yachts from this prestigious Italian yard able to deliver seriously beautiful, luxurious, comfortable, reliable and performing yachts from 55-foot (16 metres) Tecnomar to 475-foot (145 metres) Admiral.”

Interior Details
Tecnomar Evo 120 Ice White Edition has two smaller sliding doors on either side of a central external wet bar (with cunningly designed folding barstools) that reduce this problem considerably. This also allows a large flat-screen TV to be placed in the centre when required so owner and guests can watch sport, film, opera, or whatever they desire. On the bathing platform, guests are welcomed by an outstanding space with twin curved low riser staircases leading to the aft cockpit. The sides of the platform are lined with luxurious teak matching the platform decking.
The Tecnomar Evo 120 Ice White Edition’s sun deck up on top is just asking to be used for relaxation, parties or business with the completely custom-made “infinity style” pool, the centre of attraction while the port and starboard covered relaxation areas will be popular at anchor or when cruising. The main saloon has floor-to-ceiling windows, but no balcony here. Experience shows these are only used once or twice before the practical problems of ambient humid air infiltrating the interior and causing owners to reject their use. The saloon features four huge backlit Carrara marble panels specially selected by the interior designer for their interesting patterns and tones. Carrara marble was selected for this yacht because the quarries from which the marble comes, and for which the town in which the shipyard is based, are visible in the mountains behind the yard design offices. The stone has been cut from the living mountain since ancient times. The Romans used this beautiful and easily worked stone as did Michelangelo came here to choose the block from which the famous statue of David emerged and now can be seen an hour or so away from the shipyard in Firenze.
Unusually, this first model has two-day toilets on the main deck, a “his and hers” arrangement for a yacht intended to see considerable entertaining. Going forward the dining room benefits from the full beam of the yacht, which at 8.0m beats her rivals with ease, giving more space, and more importantly, comfort with the enhanced stability the extra width gives along with state-of-the-art electric Zero Speed fin stabiliser. As expected for Asia the dining room has a conventional circular table with considerable wine storage to port and flatware store to starboard. Forward on the main deck is the galley and crew mess and access to the generous crew accommodation. The cabin arrangement is also quite unique and the result of long experience and clever design.
Aft is the full beam owners cabin with relaxation area, vanity table and rich Carrara marble bathroom. A VIP cabin forward is only slightly less luxurious while in the centre we find a twin cabin with Pullman berth. Opposite, a convertible cabin can serve as a dedicated massage cum spa room and be changed within minutes into a cabin with en-suite bathroom.
