The Refurbished 1975 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 ‘Safari’ Claims Lot 171 at Sotheby’s
Fully equipped with the modern luxuries of electric windows, air conditioning, and a rear parcel shelf, the 1975 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 ‘Safari’ had passed through the delicate hands of many car-enthusiasts, starting at William Harrah’s famed Modern Classic Motors in Reno, Nevada, before making its way to the San Francisco Bay area where it was fitted with a Tubi competition muffler and refinished in a two-tone Berlinetta Boxer-style finish.
Over the course of its life, the Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 underwent a series of mechanical upgrades such as, performing a timing belt service, rebuilding the starter, and installing new pulleys, filters, and spark plugs, alongside off-road modifications that began with raising the suspension with longer components used in the 308 GTB, incorporating a custom front steel bumper, a caged rear bumper, fiberglass-reinforced rear mud flaps, and quad Hella driving lamps, plus the addition of satin black rear decklids, powder coated grille vents, a CB radio with a whip antenna, Michelin XWX tires, aluminium pedals, Repa four-point harnesses, leather luggage straps, and a fire extinguisher.
Worth an estimated $70,000 to $90,000, the 1975 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 ‘Safari’ will be available for online auction from the 21st to 28th May 2020.
