Rowan Atkinson’s Aston Martin V8 Vantage Zagato Is For Sale
Rowan Atkinson’s Aston Martin V8 Vantage Zagato is for sale, after the comedian spent a decade racing with it.
Rowan Atkinson’s one-of-a-kind, 1986 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Zagato has just been listed for sale. Only 52 units of the model were built between 1986 and 1990.
Atkinsonās car, chassis no. 20013, was the first from the production run but wasnāt acquired by Atkinson until 1998. Atkinson immediately had the car converted to racing specifications for the Aston Martin Owners Clubās C2 Class āMildly Modifiedā category.
Atkinsonās V8 Vantage Zagato is the only example to receive this change, which was carried out by the marqueās classic car department, Aston Martin Works, according to the listing. As part of the transformation, the vehicleās 5.3-litre V-8 mill was rebuilt and upgraded with Weber Alpha fuel injection and ceramic-coated exhaust headers. These modifications increased its engine output.
There was more to the conversion than just retuning the engine, though. Lightweight panels and Perspex side windows were installed to reduce the car’s overall weight and other modifications include a new racing-spec suspension and braking system with AP Racing components. It comes finished in Gladiator Red over a factory-style black interior and has a white racing gumball on both doors, which featured the number “33” when Atkinson was racing the car.
Atkinson would spend 10 years behind the wheel of his V8 Vantage Zagato, which included a 2001 crash, which both he and the car emerged relatively unharmed. The car has since been retired from racing and in 2016 was modified yet again to be made more road-friendly according to the car dealership.
The car dealership does not list a price for the car, however, you can inquire through its website.
