Porsche looks set to reconfirm its commitment to hybrid technology at next month’s Geneva Motor Show, according to a statement issued February 11.

The German luxury automaker confirmed to journalists that it would launch a “parallel full hybrid model” at the show.

Porsche said that the new model is being launched in the wake of the success of the Cayenne S Hybrid, unveiled at last year’s Geneva Show, which has received fairly good reviews in Europe and the US.

Although details weren’t provided on exactly what the new hybrid model will be, Porsche is known to be working on a hybrid version of its popular Panamera sedan using the same technology that powers the Cayenne S Hybrid.

It has also confirmed the introduction of a new SUV, Cajun, to accompany the Cayenne, although it’s not due to arrive until 2014.

It’s no secret that Porsche is setting its sights on new products to grow, allowing it to compete with traditional rivals such as Ferrari in the sports car market and BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Range Rover in the market for larger family cars.

At the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last month, where Porsche made a high-profile return after a four year hiatus, its new Porsche 918 RSR concept was named best in show by AutoWeek magazine — the concept will also be on display at the Geneva show.
