Mercedes SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive
Mercedes-Benz just unveiled its second electric car, the 2014 SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
Mercedes-Benz and AMG have been teasing us with the prospect of an all-electric supercar since theĀ SLS AMG E-CellĀ concept broke cover in 2010.
Now at the Paris Motor Show, Mercedes has presented the public with an all-electric SLS that’s set to become the fastest production electric supercar in the world.
Developed in-house by Mercedes-AMG , the car has a 155 mile range in the combined cycle per charge of its 60kWh 400V lithium-ion battery.
The most powerful AMG high-performance vehicle of all time has four electric motors producing a total output of 552 kW and a maximum torque of 1000 Nm.
As a result, the gullwing model has become the world’s fastest electrically-powered series production vehicle: the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG CoupĆ© Electric Drive accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
The fastest gas-powered SLS AMG, the 583-hp SLS AMG GT, needs only 3.6 seconds to reach 100 km/h (60 mph), though it isnāt hindered by a heavy battery pack.
The SLS AMG was first introduced back in 2009 and this is the only major upgrade that the vehicle featured within these past years.
The SLS AMG Electric Drive goes on sale in Europe next year for roughly $530,000, or more than 2.5 times the cost of a regular SLS. Ā Source:Ā gizmag
