Italian luxury car brand Lamborghini is set to unveil a flagship supercar at the Geneva Motor Show next month, according to reports from the US.

The top-end automaker, which makes some of the world’s most iconic performance cars, is planning to take the wraps off the Aventador at the show.

It will be the brand’s most powerful production model ever, boasting a 700 hp V12 engine which can manage 0 – 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, making it faster than its predecessor, the Murcielago.

Aventador will be 95 kilograms lighter than the Murcielago LP640, weighing in at 1,570 kilograms thanks to a carbon fiber safety frame.

It will also reduce fuel consumption and emissions by a reported 20 percent, although environmental performance may not be the primary concern of buyers for the high-octane supercar.

The model is said to cost over $370,000, although it’s already too late to become a launch customer as the first year of production has been sold.

The Geneva show traditionally sees the introduction of some of the world’s most desirable cars, with Porsche already confirmed to be launching an all-new model at this year’s show.

Another new supercar will come from German automaker Gumpert, which will launch a second model to complement its Apollo, which launched in 2005.

The new Gumpert Tornante uses a 4.2 liter V8 engine delivering 700 hp and features gullwing doors, as well as more luggage space.

The Geneva Motor Show is open to the public March 3-13 in Geneva, Switzerland.
