Jaguar has unveiled its most powerful open-topped GT ever on the first day of the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The automaker took the wraps off the XKR-S Convertible November 16, describing the model as a “new performance echelon” at the top of its XK range.
Boasting a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine, the model tops out at 300 km/h and manages 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, the fastest time for a convertible Jaguar GT.
Equipped with a six-speed automatic gearbox, the XKR-S convertible is eight percent more powerful than the XKR, Jaguar says, with additional suspension upgrades added to improve the car’s handling.
On the exterior, Jaguar has opted to include a new rear wing to increase downforce on the open-topped model, which is 10 centimeters lower than the XKR-S Coupe.
Although the roof has been acoustically treated to reduce noise, the XKR-S Convertible includes a new exhaust system which Jaguar says has been specially tuned to deliver “an authentic, race-car inspired soundtrack.”
