Fisker is facing yet more embarrassing publicity surrounding its Karma plug-in hybrid, after a test model broke down while being tested by Consumer Reports.
The consumer publication released a YouTube video this week purporting to show that the Karma, which sells for over $100,000, had broken down in its driveway.
In the video, Consumer Reports’ Tom Mutchler claims that the car wouldn’t move into gear and wouldn’t move, before a dealer arrivers to pick up the model.
In an associated blog post, Consumer Reports said that it has heard of other problems with the vehicle, citing the FiskerBuzz.com forum and saying that its Fisker ownership had been ‘a bumpy ride’.
A damning report from such an influential publication is a serious blow to Fisker, already grappling for public acceptance after it was forced into recalling some of the vehicles just weeks after the launch following fears over battery safety.
