Ferrari 488 Pista: Bringing back impeccable performance on-the-track

The three latest Ferrari Special Series: the 360 Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale that are V8-powered have received critical acclaims since they were launched. In particular, the evolution of the turbo units that have been incorporated into the Special Series have received global interests after having bagged home the overall international engine of the year award in both 2016 and 2017.

With the release of a new edition – Ferrari 488 Pista – Ferrari fans and prospective buyers can catch a glimpse of the amazing race car model that is ready to make a debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

Compared to the 488 GTB, the new model is powered by a twin-turbo-charged V8 engine, with 710 horsepower and a torque of 770Nm at 3,000 rpm in 7th gear. In terms of performance, the new 488 Pista can travel at a top speed of 340 km/h and sprints from 0-100km/h in 2.85 secs and 0-200km/h in 7.6 secs.

The 488 Pistaā€™s extensive weight saving solutions

The engine of the 488 Pista is designed to be lightweight (weighing an impressive 90kg less), thanks to the carry-over parts such as the exhaust, crankshaft and flywheel, including the vehicle dynamics and aerodynamic developments all derived from Ferrariā€™s racing cars: the 488 GTE and the 488 Challenge.

With all the changes to the new model, the 488 Pista is able to generate 20 per cent more downforce as compared to the 488 GTB for better handling on-track.

Paying homage to the brandā€™s unrivalled heritage in motor sports, the newly developed 488 Pista, according to Ferrari, have evolved directly from the companyā€™s involvement in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

To-date, the brand has won five Manufacturersā€™ titles in the GTE class in the six years since the seriesā€™ inception, taking 29 out of 50 races – and 25 yearsā€™ experience in running the Ferrari Challenge one-make series. These achievements will mark a significant step forward for the brand in terms of both sporty dynamics and for the level of technological carry-over from racing.
