Dodge Special Edition Vipers Sold Out

The American car firm marks the 25th and final year of its supercar with five special editions to resounding success.

Everyone’s favorite rowdy, old-school muscle car is back. Well, kind of – because the Dodge Special Edition Viper has already sold out. To commemorate its 25th anniversary and the final year of its production in 2017, Dodge unleashed five different special editions of the Viper, all of which sold within days of the launch.

And if this was a race, the 1:28 Edition ACR (American Club Racer) certainly won by a mile, because its 28 planned examples sold out within a mere 40 minutes. The car – in a contrasting black and red finish – is a commemoration of the wicked record lap time of 1:28.65 it set at Laguna Seca last year, where it shaved 1.24 seconds off the previous one set by a Posche 918. The Viper ACR also holds records at 13 other racetracks, making it the fastest street-legal Viper ever.

The other models also proved to be a hit despite their (slightly) larger production. All 31 black graphite Dodge Viper Voodoo II ACRs were sold out in just two hours, the 100 GTS-R Commemorative Edition ACRs (in its iconic white exterior with twin racing stripes) in two days and 22 Dodge Viper Dealer Edition examples in five.

If you didn’t manage to snag one of these, don’t shed any tears – Dodge has announced one more special edition, the Dodge Viper Snakeskin ACR, inspired by the original Snakeskin American Club Racer edition launched in 2010. There will be, of course, plenty of snakeskin motifs throughout; the car sees a bright snakeskin green exterior with a snakeskin patterned SRT stripe. Powered by Lamborghini’s extremely boisterous V10, the special edition comes equipped with full carbon ceramic brakes, an extreme aero package and a snakeskin badge. And because this car is well worth a brag, Dodge will hand you a custom car cover that matches the car’s paint job, with the owner’s name.
