Bugatti W16 Mistral Makes a Pitstop in Singapore
This masterpiece marks the last W16 quad-turbo engine that the marque will use as it enters a new era of hybridisation.
A grand tour that took place across the lands of North America, Europe and the Middle East, the Bugatti W16 Mistral makes its landfall in Singapore after a brief stint in Japan earlier in January. The hyper sports car, named after the southern winds that blow through the Mediterranean and France, is the swansong of the marque’s W16 quad-turbo engine as it enters a new era of hybridisation.
The Bugatti W16 Mistral has been designed to channel the timeless spirit of the 1934 Type 57 Roadster Grand Raid, which eventually became the prototype for the other Grand Raid chassis produced in early 1935. An intersection between the old and new, the W16 Mistral did not feel out of place when it arrived in Singapore. The city-state’s architectural masterpieces like the iconic Gardens by the Bay; its towering building along the bustling Central Business District and historical landmarks such as the Buddha Tooth Temple only add to bring out the allure of the W16 Mistral.
Aside from its aesthetic façade that blends the past and contemporary, the W16 Mistral is a masterpiece that undoubtedly connotes opulence and decadence. And the marque is keeping up this exclusivity as only 99 examples will make it out of Bugatti’s home ground in Mosheim. Unfortunately, all 99 were sold before it was formally revealed, and customisations get underway this year, with deliveries due in 2024.
After making several pitstops at iconic places in Singapore, the W16 Mistral was parked in the Bugatti Singapore Showroom. Opened in 2021 as part of a partnership with Wearnes, a luxury automotive retailer, the car was the centre of attention amidst the beautiful immersive showroom. Only a selected list of guests was invited down to catch a glimpse of this roadster, and many there were in awe of its timeless and elegant design.

As the W16 Mistral made its stop in Singapore, Kostas Psarris, Regional Director of Middle East and Asia at Bugatti said, “The world has looked on in admiration as Singapore has developed such a strong economy and become a truly enviable place to live, and it is no surprise it is now home to so many ultra-high net worth individuals. We know from our recently opened showroom that there is massive interest in Bugatti in Southeast Asia, so it is a genuine privilege to be able to bring the W16 Mistral here. As with Singapore itself, this incredible car demonstrates there is no limit to what can be achieved when there is an unquenchable desire to succeed.”
