Audi Allroad Shooting Brake Concept
Audi has released images and details of its hybrid Audi Allroad Shooting Brake concept car ahead of the Detroit Motor Show 2014.
For the 2014 North American International Auto Show, Audi is pooling all of its four-wheel-drive and hybrid-power know-how for a compact SUV show car with mass appeal potential.
On first glance, it looks like a serious off-roader that has been accidentally shrunk in the wash. The Allroad Shooting Brake Concept is diminutive in size but, thanks to a 2-liter turbocharged engine mated to not one, but two electric motors, the car has all the grunt and power of an SUV twice its size.
It can accelerate from 0-62mph (100km/h) in just 4.6 sec and offers up 408PS (400hp) and 650 Nm of torque. Yet, the car is environmentally friendly, capable of 149mpg or 1.9 l of fuel per 100 km.
Inside, the cabin is wrapped in Alcantara and aluminum and there’s enough space for four, or two with masses of extreme sports equipment. Like Volvo’s latest concept coupe, the XC, the Allroad is clearly aimed at those with a very active lifestyle.
To ensure that the car is comfortable and fun to drive for anyone of any physical stature the instrument panel is adjustable so that everything is always within reach. The car also has a smartphone box which will boost a device’s signal while simultaneously wirelessly charging it.
