Mercedes-Benz has released the first teaser image of the 2012 ML63 AMG ahead of its official world debut this week at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The 2012 ML63 features a significantly greener powertrain, with fuel consumption of 16 mpg (14.7 l/100km), up a third from its predecessor.
It will feature a powerful 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine, with an increased power of 518 hp, which rises to 550 hp when combined with the AMG Performance Package.
That gives the lighter ML63 an acceleration of 0-60mph (0-97 km/h) in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 174 miles per hour (280 km/h), although the model also features efficiency savings such as a stop-start engine and earlier gear changes when the vehicle isn’t being used on the track.
While L.A. prides itself on being an eco-friendly show, models such as the ML63 AMG prove that there is still plenty of space for luxurious SUVs on the show floor.
Joining Mercedes-Benz will be Land Rover, showcasing a new version of its DC100 concept first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Nissan-owned Infiniti will also be debuting a new SUV aimed at the likes of the Audi Q7, in the form of the 2013 Infiniti JX, previewed as a near-production concept in September’s Monterey Auto Week and Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The ML63 AMG will go on sale within the first three months of 2012.Ā AFPrelaxnews
