Whisky Journey 2022: A Taste of the World’s Whiskies
Visitors to the event will stand to have a taste of more than 15 10ml drams of whiskies during the two-day showcase at Marina Bay Sands.
Happening soon in December 2022 is Singapore’s biggest and most vibrant whisky showcase: Whisky Journey 2022. After the initial successes of 2020-2021, where participants got the chance to embark on an island-wide bar and restaurant trail that spanned over 10 days, this year’s Whisky Journey will take place at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre. The show is set to feature over 20 exhibitors who will be bringing more than 100 whisky expressions in this two-day event.
In Singapore, the appreciation of spirits like whisky has steadily risen over the years as local consumers are becoming more interested in trying out lesser-known expressions other than the more popular ones. The aim of Whisky Journey is to provide a fun, educational and affordable way to learn more about various whiskies and brands. To achieve this, the event aims to fulfil these three objectives: Experience, Explore and Educate.
Unlike other whisky exhibitions where the focus is on brand building, Whisky Journey takes a different approach to become a platform where visitors can be informed, engaged and entertained. “By allowing participants to try the full range of whiskies/spirits from the exhibiting brands at a discounted price, it will attract more whisky lovers across the country,” Whisky Journey shares in a press release. Visitors can expect to meet brands like Springbank, Bowmore, Deanston, Hazelburn and many more.
At Whisky Journey 2022, visitors can stand to try single malt whiskies from boutique distilleries not widely known for as low as S$3 per 10ml dram or a 30-year-old Tomatin whisky for only S$14. In addition to whisky tasting, new product launches will be made available for purchase and limited edition bottling are on the ballot at an attractive price. These include the Tomintoul 1977 Sherry cask 40YO Quaich Bar exclusive, Springbank 21-year-old and Springbank 25-year-old — only a single bottle is made available each day.
Furthermore, visitors can attend masterclass sessions conducted by distillery representatives to learn more about the art of whisky making and also get tips on how to savour them. For those looking to stock up for the year-end festivities, there are whiskies at bargain prices that they can buy and be gifted to family and friends.
