The champagne maker enlisted designer Laurent Vincenti to create an “aiguière,” a special ewer that transforms the way bubbly is poured.
Today, champagne connoisseurs are accustomed to gripping the concave bottom of the bottle with a few fingers to pour the contents and control the quantity of foam in the flute. But this is not the only proper way to serve sparkling wine: Laurent-Perrier invites champagne lovers to use a special ewer like those used in the court of the Sun King in 17th-century France.

The Grand Siècle champagne bottle is inserted into this accessory, which has two handles encircling its neck. Not touched directly by the hands, the bottle fits into place at its base on top of a cone.
When the champagne is being poured, the hand naturally draws the two handles together, thus gripping the bottle to ensure it remains in place.
The Grand Siècle LAURENT-PERRIER gift set with its special ewer and dish is available from this month at specialty shops for €280.
