The innovative Madame Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin was born to a family with a penchant for wit. When her father was named a Baron of the Empire by Napoleon in 1813, he was also honored with a coat of arms.
In choosing this family symbol, Nicolas Ponsardin took a satirical twist on his own name, selecting a coat of arms that illustrated a bridge (“pont” in French) beneath a sardine: PON(t)SARDIN(e).
In homage to Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin’s clever origins, the Ponsardine keeps history and a bottle of Brut Yellow Label playful and fresh.
