Luxury group LVMH has announced the purchase of one of the oldest and most prestigious vineyards in Burgundy, the Clos des Lambrays.
With a history that dates back to 1365, the vineyard boasts a colorful past. In 1789, during the French Revolution, the property was sold and divided between 74 owners, but it was reunited in 1868.
In 1981, the vineyard attained the designation of Grand cru. Located near the village of Morey-Saint-Denis, the vineyard, which spans nearly nine hectares, produces Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru “Clos du Cailleret” and Premier Cru “Les Folatières” white wines.
The latest LVMH acquisition expands the group’s premium alcohol portfolio, which includes Moët & Chandon, Dom Pérignon, Veuve Clicquot, Krug, Ruinart, Mercier, Château d’Yquem, Château Cheval Blanc and Hennessy.
