Steve Jobs Tribute Laptop

To mark the one-year anniversay of Steve Job’s death a limited edition Apple MacBook Pro is being auctioned for charity.

One of three created by Dutch laptop customizer Uncover, with a 750GB hard drive and Retina display, the top-of-the-range notebook computer features a redesigned Apple logo.

Created by Hong Kong artist Jonathan Makin, the image incorporates Steve Jobs’s profile in place of the more familiar bite mark.

The underside of the computer has been laser-etched with one of the visionary’s most inspirational quotes: “When you grow up, you tend to get told that the world is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world, try not to bash into the walls too much, try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money.

That’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader, once you discover one simple fact, and that is that everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you.

And you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use. Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”

The computer has a reserve price of €9,500 and all proceeds from the auction will be shared between the Get It Done charity and the Sellanapp organization, which is focused on creatinig apps that have societal value rather than a direct business model. The auction, hosted by eBid, will run until Tuesday night.
