Four Seasons has become the latest hotel chain to embrace location-based technology by announcing a partnership with Gowalla.

The company is offering a $100 spa or dining credit to any of its guests who check in using Gowalla at three or more “must see sites or experiences in California” that the software recommends.

To participate, guests must “check in” using Gowalla at any Four Seasons in California and then follow Four Seasons for access to the Best Of trips

Once checked in at three or more destinations, the software provides a PIN-code that can be given to the hotel’s reception to redeem the $100 credit.

Although the Four Seasons promotion is restricted to California, it’s another in a series of tie-ups between hotels and location-based services.

In July, InterContinental offered free Priority Club points to users who checked in at their properties using one of the major location-based services, such as Foursquare, Twitter, Gowalla, Yelp, Loopt or Google Latitude.

It uses a service called TopGuest, which has also partnered with Viceroy Hotels, Grand Hotels and the Standard Hotels to offer points for check-ins.

Hilton and Doubletree have also partnered with Foursquare to offer discounts to some customers who check in at their properties.
