Hilton has announced the opening of two new properties in a landmark development at Frankfurt Airport.
The hotels are part of the new SQUAIRE building, a huge center built within Frankfurt’s Airport, continental Europe’s second-busiest terminal.
Comprising a five-star Hilton and a three-star Hilton Garden Inn, the chain’s new developments offer a total of 583 rooms.
Designed by JOI Design, the name behind the Ritz-Carlton Wolfsburg, the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten by Kempinski in Munich and the Swissotel DĆ¼sseldorf, both share the same mobility theme as the rest of the SQUAIRE development, Hilton said.
The five-star Hilton includes 249 rooms, an all-day restaurant, and a lounge and bar in the atrium of the property, along with leisure facilities including a fitness center, steam room and sauna.
The hotels are something of a feather in the cap for SQUAIRE, which sits above Frankfurt Airport’s rail station and also includes shops and restaurants.
Suspended on 86 pillars, the train-shaped building measures 660 meters long and ‘floats’ above the long-distance ICE (Inter-City Express) tracks of Frankfurt Airport’s station, earning it descriptions such as “an over-sized ICE”, “a long spaceship” and “a gigantic airplane fuselage.”
