The very private and very exclusive Maldives island resort of Coco Bodu Hithi is the perfect getaway for couples and groups alike.
Located on the beautiful island of Bodu Hithi in the North Malé Atoll of Maldives, the Coco Bodu Hithi, by the Coco Collection Resorts, is truly paradise on Earth.
The five-star resort destination, only 40 minutes by speed boat from Malé International Airport, is one of the most exclusive collections of over-water and island villas that money can buy this side of the archipelago.
Coco Bodu Hithi: A Hidden Island Paradise on Earth
The picturesque destination is the perfect getaway for both couples and groups of friends alike. It features a myriad of activities and facilities that are ideal for honeymooners looking for a romantic time, as well as individuals seeking fun and adventure in the sun.
Right on the water
Sitting on its very own islet, Coco Bodu Hithi’s main attraction has got to be the Water Villas, a cluster of large bungalows perched directly over the pristine Indian Ocean.
Suspended on stilts above the lagoon, the luxurious Water Villas reflect both the vastness of the ocean, as well as the intimacy of an island hideaway.A decked walkway leads you into a space that is light, airy, and luxurious, with screen-separations for more privacy. The bathroom comes with separate wash basins and an indulgently deep designer bathtub.
The master bedroom offers every creature comfort known to the modern man, including a large king-sized bed, flat screen TV, stereo, and unforgettable views of the Indian Ocean.
The best part of the over-water villa experience is possibly the fact that guests can simply step out directly on to the balcony to lounge, or jump into the ocean for a swim, at any time of the day, without any hassle. If the water is too chilly, they can even take a dip in their own private pools.
When evening comes, love birds can also enjoy a romantic, custom five-course dinner for two in the comforts of their room, or a private pergola out on the beach, while they enjoy the beautiful sunset.
Island life
For those who prefer to be closer to Mother Nature, the resort also offers 44 Island Villas which are located further inland. These 188-square-metre bungalows, the largest on the Bodu Hithi Island, are artfully designed retreats that combine the best of traditional Maldivian architecture, with the latest and most premium in personal luxury.
Open plan, yet intimate, each villa includes a feature bathing area where you can submerge yourself in the large central tub, uniquely placed in the middle of the room. Further back of the hut is the relaxing master bedroom, where a comfortable king-sized bed and a sunken living area complete with a sofa, a flat screen TV, and a personal bar.
The outdoors is a main theme throughout the property, and this is reflected in the outdoor lounge spaces in all its rooms. Within the Island Villas, there are two al fresco spots where guests can relax and unwind, while still enjoy complete privacy in their personal garden pool and views of the crystal clear ocean, all from the comforts of their beach front terrace.
Excite your taste buds
If being cloistered on an island makes you uneasy, worry not. The resort island is jam packed with dining and leisure options that are sure to keep you occupied and entertained for days on end, if not weeks.
Coco Bodu Hithi offers a diverse range of international indoor and al fresco international dining experiences, so you’ll never have to worry about being gastronomically unsatisfied while being “stuck” on an island.
There is Aqua, an al fresco Asian restaurant located over the water; Stars Restaurant and Bar, known for its contemporary culinary flair and fresh seasonal produce; cocktail bar Latitude, which is located by the infinity pool, and serves an exciting range of classic and tropical cocktails; and beachfront barbecue diner Breeze.
Unique experiences
The Maldives is recognised as one of the best spots in the world for diving and snorkelling, and Coco Bodu Hithi is renowned for its spectacular and well-preserved house reef. The underwater landscape here is perfect for photography and exploration, allowing the current to move you as you drift dive amongst the fascinating coral caverns teaming with fish.
Guests can also fill their days with other water activities like catamaran sailing, canoeing, water skiing, and windsurfing, in the crystal clear turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.
Every so often, Coco Bodu Hithi also organises special, one-off culinary experiences for guests. In August, the hotel partnered with Chef Colin Clague, the award-winning Executive Chef of Rüya Dubai, on a very special week-long chef residency, where he created two fantastic Turkish dinners for guests at Aqua, as well as a special masterclass.
With all these and more going for the resort, it is no wonder it has won numerous awards over the years, including: the Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence 2018, Best for Romance; and most siginficantly, the Best Luxury Island Resort at the 2014 World Luxury Hotel Awards.
If you’re still undecided on your next holiday destination, we highly recommend the Coco Bodu Hithi!
