Tale of a Fairy Karl Lagerfeld

For anyone whose invitation to Chanel’s resort show in the South of France on May 9 got lost in the mail, its creative head Karl Lagerfeld will release a new short film, showcasing the cruise collection in a dramatic surrounding.

A teaser released May 5 depicts “friends of the House” including French actress Anna Mouglalis, American model Kristen McMenamy, fashion empress Amanda Harlech, models Freja Beha Erichsen, Bianca Balti and Baptiste Giabiconi.

All are putting their best acting skills forward in this new trailer that seems to revolve around a dysfunctional, affluent family whiling away their time in chic casinos.

Robinson-inspired bedroom scenes, building up the anticipation for Monday’s show at the HĆ“tel du Cap-Eden-Roc at the Cap d’Antibes.

“It is a movie about an ill-advised use of money which begins with violence and ends with feeling,” Karl Lagerfeld said in a statement.

The full video will be available on chanel.com on May 10. Cruise collections have gained importance over the past few years, with the number of brands opting for a resort show skyrocketing in 2010.

The upcoming season will bring collections of high-fashion brands such as Dior but also of more affordable labels including 3.1 Phillip Lim.
