Manolo Blahnik has announced a deal for British department store Liberty to sell his footwear as of spring 2012.
The UK currently only has one exclusive outlet at the designer’s store on Old Church Street in London’s exclusive Chelsea neighborhood.
Situated on Regent Street in the heart of London’s shopping district since 1875, Liberty boasts a long fashion legacy and is best known for its floral, abstract and paisley patterned print fabrics.
The store has created a designated area on its second floor for the creator’s iconic heels, not to mention accessories including scarves and bags.
The shoe designer has collaborated with Liberty in the past. Just last year he opened the World of Manolo pop-up shop there, stocking shoes and accessories.
“I love the store; it’s very English, and has so much character. I go there to shop myself. It is unique,” he is quoted as saying by WWD.
Liberty will also stock Choli, a patent leather court shoe designed by Blahnik and London-born creator Richard Nicoll for the latter’s spring catwalk show.
Other creations to go on sale will include Blahnik’s footwear inspired by the Olympic Games, such as metallic Greek style sandals.
Other Liberty fashion exclusives currently available include a scarf collection by Scottish creator Christopher Kane and an elegant line of bags by Collection Prive.
Blahnik, whose sketches have become as famous as the heels they go on to become, last year released the book Manolo’s New Shoes.
Last month, to celebrate 15 years in fashion, fellow high-end shoe label Jimmy Choo released a limited edition coffee table book, Jimmy Choo XV.
