All hail the new King of Comedy! After dominating the Forbes list of best paid comedians from the very first one 10 years ago, Jerry Seinfeld has been dethroned by Kevin Hart. For as long as Forbes can remember, Seinfeld has reigned supremeĀ as the ā€œKing of Comedyā€. But in a year full of changes, Hart has taken the spot as the worldā€™s highest-paid comedians. Between June 2015 and June 2016, Hart earned a total of $87.5 million, nearly $30 million more than Seinfeld.

The reason for his rise to the top is down to the number of shows he racks up. With more than 100 shows in the last 12-months, Hart tours like no other comedian and earns more thanĀ $1 million each stop. Supporting these earnings are his roles in both movies and TV shows as well as commercials for the likes of Foot Locker, Hyundai and H&M.

Bear in mind though that Forbes estimates Seinfeld has earned $900 million from 2006 till today, making him the most successful comic of all time, by far.

Another major change for the Forbes list of highest paidĀ comedians of 2016 is the addition of Amy Schumer with $17 million. She is the only woman on the list this year but that’s not the real story. Despite many fine comics such asĀ Tina Fey, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss and Amy Pohler, Schumer is actually the first woman to ever make the top earners’ list.
