Cindy Crawford to Retire at 50?
Perhaps we are dramatically overreacting here but Cindy Crawford’s retirement statement has us at a loss for words. Everything about this is wrong…
Perhaps we are dramatically overreacting here but Cindy Crawford’s retirement statement has us at a loss for words. The supermodel, who we recently covered very much actively modeling (unless she has another word for this) for Balmain, told the United Airlines Rhapsody magazine that she is giving up a life in front of the lenses after 30 years. Rhapsody what-now? I mean we are not sticklers for form here but shouldn’t such a statement – if it is even needed – come from Time, People or Us Weekly? Since the grand dame of modeling turns 50 this year (her birthday is February 20), maybe even the stately New Yorker could have broken this.
“I’m sure I’ll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore,” she told Rhapsody. “And that’s OK. I’ve done it. I’ve worked with all these incredible photographers. What else do I need to do? I can’t keep reinventing myself. I shouldn’t have to keep proving myself. I don’t want to.” Seriously, congratulations to Rhapsody for getting this. Enjoy the Internet’s envy…
So, to return to Crawford, she is going to keep having her picture taken. Ok. Just don’t call her a model, super or otherwise, anymore. Noted. Secondly, Crawford certainly does not need to prove herself and we can’t imagine which social media trolls gave her that idea. In any case, we look forward to at least 10 more good years of life in the pictures with Crawford.
