One of the earliest Bugatti racing cars is expected to fetch up to 2.4 million euros ($3.4 million) at a sale in France, said auction house Bonhams.
Built in 1912, it was raced by by the manufacturerĆ¢ā¬ā¢s eponymous founder, Ettore, at Le Mans and on the Mont Ventoux.
Compared to the other Bugattis of the era, it has an unusually large engine and uses chains to drive the rear wheels.
It will be a highlight of the inaugural sale by Bonhams at the annual Ć¢ā¬ÅWeekend de lĆ¢ā¬ā¢Excellence AutomobileĆ¢ā¬Ā at Reims on Sept. 26,
The 1912 black chain-driven two-seater for sale is one of three surviving streamlined racers that Ettore Bugatti built after he first established his factory at Molsheim in the Alsace district of France in 1910.
