Sky Studies
Kyle Seis creates optical illusions inspired by the celestial sphere
Artist Kyle Seis explores our visual perception with his recent photographic installation of optical illusions inspired by the celestial sphere. Titled Sky Studies, Seis undermines the traditional representation of the sky as being one-dimensional by incorporating three-dimensionality into the photographic process with the use of mirrors and transparencies. Applying his knowledge and passion for architecture, he manipulates the light so to produce prints and projected images for his installation. Seis forces the viewer to consider the differences between objective reality and photographic representations, challenging our perception of space and dimension.
