Polaroid Mosaics by Maurizio Galimbert
Artist uses signature technique to create stunning montage of polaroids
Italian Artist Maurizio Galimberti has developed a mosaic technique that he uses to deconstruct multiple photographed images into a single montaged comosition. Galimberti shoots a number of individual frames which he arranges into a larger grid that creates a distorted version of a portrait.Using the multiple polaroids of different images, Galimberti cleverly matches colours and shape such that the polaroids blend next to each other seamlessly, forming a large portrait as a whole. His series features portraits of many famous celebrities of today; including Lady Gaga, Johnny Depp and George Clooney. The dynamic montages show multiple facets of the subject’s face. Viewers are able to focus on a number of individual elements simultaneously, and observe an image as a series of frames suspended in time.
